In 2022, GPPE supplied a High-Speed Thermal Self-Adhesive Label Slitting & Packaging Line (model GP-LA550) to a customer in Japan. It has a maximum speed of 150 m/min and a production cycle of 14 seconds for 10 m rolls. One operator runs two machines.

How the Line Works

1. Slitting

   The servo-controlled slitter rewinder slits the jumbo roll into finished widths.

2. Rewinding

   Finished rolls are rewound by the servo-controlled slitter rewinder.

3. Core conveying

   Cores are loaded automatically.

4. Core shaft conveying

   Core shafts are loaded automatically.

5. Roll separation and end flattening
6. Packaging

   Finished rolls are grouped and packed, ready for cartons.

Planning a Similar Line

GPPE label roll lines are built for self-adhesive roll converting plants: slitting and converting of cash register and label rolls for supermarkets, logistics, warehousing and local delivery. To configure a line like this one, GPPE engineers ask:

• Which machine width do you prefer: 330 mm, 450 mm or 550 mm? For the 330 model, the efficiency is 15 s/cycle (25 m rolls).
• Do you need a packaging line? Packaging style: POF transparent or black PE?
• Do you need inline carton packing and palletizing?
• Do you need flexo printing? 1 color, 2 colors or more (max. 6 colors inline)?
• Die-cutting unit: single or double die-cut?
• Roll end closing: glue or glueless?
• Do you need an end mark unit?
• Which core range do you produce: 0.5–2 inch or 1–3 inch?
