Paper Roll Converting Line Capacity

Monthly tonnage, cycle times and speeds of GPPE thermal, label and plotter roll lines.

Short Answer

How Much a GPPE POS Line Converts per Month

A GPPE POS thermal paper roll line converts about 160 tons at 650 mm, 260 tons at 1100 mm and 360 tons at 1500 mm machine width, based on 80 mm × 80 m rolls, 48 g paper, no printing, 24 hours a day and 30 days a month. The high-speed GP-FA1500-WP rewinds at up to 500 m/min with a 25-second cycle for 60 m rolls.

Planning Output

What Changes the Real Output

  • Roll length and widthThe tonnage figures assume 80 mm × 80 m rolls; cycle times are given for 60 m, 80 m, 45 m or 100 m rolls.
  • PrintingThe tonnage figures are for lines running without printing.
  • Operating hoursThe tonnage figures assume 24 hours a day and 30 days a month.
  • Paper weightThe tonnage figures are based on 48 g thermal paper; POS lines handle 40–120 gsm (coreless line 40–100 gsm).
  • OperatorsOne operator can supervise up to three GP-FA1500-WP lines.

Send your roll size, paper weight and working hours and GPPE engineers will recommend a configuration for your target output.

To size a label line, GPPE engineers ask:

  1. Which machine width do you prefer: 330 mm, 450 mm or 550 mm? For the 330 model, the efficiency is 15 s/cycle (25 m rolls).
  2. Do you need a packaging line? Packaging style: POF transparent or black PE?
  3. Do you need inline carton packing and palletizing?
  4. Do you need flexo printing? 1 color, 2 colors or more (max. 6 colors inline)?
  5. Die-cutting unit: single or double die-cut?
  6. Roll end closing: glue or glueless?
  7. Do you need an end mark unit?
  8. Which core range do you produce: 0.5–2 inch or 1–3 inch?

FAQ

Common Questions

How many tons per month can a GPPE POS line convert?

About 160 tons at 650 mm, 260 tons at 1100 mm and 360 tons at 1500 mm machine width, based on 80 mm × 80 m rolls, 48 g paper, no printing, 24 hours a day and 30 days a month.

What capacity does the GP-FA1450-WP achieve?

The GP-FA1450-WP has been upgraded to the 1500 mm GP-FA1500-WP. A 1500 mm line converts about 360 tons per month (80 mm × 80 m rolls, 48 g paper, no printing, 24 hours a day and 30 days a month). The GP-FA1500-WP rewinds at up to 500 m/min with a 25-second cycle for 60 m rolls, and one operator can supervise up to three lines.

Which web widths do GPPE label lines take?

GPPE small-core and turret label lines are built in 330, 450 and 550 mm widths; a turret line for a different width, such as 560 mm, is built to order. The turret line winds finished rolls of 25–350 mm OD on 1, 1.5 and 3 inch shafts, and the minimum slitting width is 30 mm.

Can a GPPE turret rewinder take a 560 mm web, 1000 mm OD rolls and 41 mm finished widths?

Yes. A 560 mm (22 inch) web is a custom build, since standard turret label lines are 330, 450 and 550 mm wide. Mother rolls of 1000 mm OD and finished rolls down to 41 mm wide can be run, and a web guide and a splicing table are standard on the turret line. Send your specification for a quotation.

What configuration suits a flexo label plant adding converting capacity?

GPPE offers two label roll families: the small-core label line for 0.5–1 inch cores (13 seconds per cycle for 10 m rolls) and the turret label converter for 1–3 inch cores (130 cycles per hour for 45 m rolls). Both come in 330, 450 and 550 mm widths with die-cutting and label tail closure, and with flexo printing up to 6 colors and packaging as options. GPPE engineers choose between them from your core size, roll length, label format and packaging needs.
